How To Secure A Trampoline

If you live in a windy area then it’s best to secure your trampoline as they are susceptible to taking off in high winds due to its huge surface area. This can get dangerous quickly as it can damage the lives and property in its surroundings.

In this article, we are going to show how to secure a trampoline so that you are prepared in case of storms and high winds.

Securing a trampoline

Trampolines usually come with a trampoline anchor kit. These can either be Auger-style ground anchors or U-shaped wind stakes. Another option for securing your trampolines is to use sandbags if you are unable to use the other two options due to some reason.

Augerstyle ground anchors

Auger-style ground anchors are screwed into the soil. These are one of the most effective ways to keep your trampoline in place during wind storms or high winds. You will generally need 4 corkscrews to securely hold your trampoline down.

U-shaped wind stakes

U-shaped anchors are cheap and great options for areas that don’t face heavy winds. These are best suited for light to medium winds. The process to install it is fairly simple and can be done by a single person. Due to these reasons it is fairly popular.

Sandbags

Sandbags are a great option for a short-term solution if there is an incoming storm and the trampoline is not yet secured. Sandbags are usually put over the legs of the trampoline to secure it.

Steps to secure a trampoline using the Auger style ground anchors

  1. Take a pack of 4 anchors about 16-20 inches long.
  2. Screw them into the soil.
  3. Take the strap that comes with the anchor kit and wrap them tightly around the top of the frame of the trampoline. Strapping them at the top of the frame makes sure that the trampoline is securely held.
  4. Now take the other end of the strap and insert it in the hook at the top of the anchor. Now pass it through the buckle and make sure that the straps are tightened.
  5. Now repeat the process for other anchors and make sure to spread the anchors evenly.

Steps to secure a trampoline using the U-shaped wind stakes

  1. Take 4 U-shaped stakes.
  2. Place each stake over the legs of the trampoline and make sure they are centered properly.
  3. Now hammer the stakes into the ground. The trampolines should now be secured.

How to secure a trampoline over concrete?

One option to secure a trampoline over concrete is when the concrete is being poured over. You can insert Auger-style anchors in the concrete. Although you will need to carefully measure the distance between anchors beforehand.

Another option is to use sandbags to secure the trampoline. Although, this is not the best solution in the long run due to various reasons. Also, a trampoline can be secured over concrete but it should generally be avoided as there is a risk of injury in case someone falls outside the trampoline.
