Cornhole is a perfect outdoor game to play on your lawn with your friends. Cornhole is also known as bag-toss and has gained popularity in recent years. The reason for the popularity of Cornhole is it’s easy to set up and a fun game to play on your lawn. In this article, we are going to share the various rules to play cornhole.

Cornhole Equipment

You will need 2 cornhole boards to play the game. The board dimensions should be 24in x 48in and the thickness should be a minimum of half inch. The board should have a 6-inch hole that is 9 inches from the top. The center of the hole should be 12 inches from both sides of the board. The front height for the board should be 3-4 inches whereas the rear height should be 12 inches.

 

The two boards should be placed 27 inches measured from the front side of both boards. There should be 8 cornhole bags with four of each color. The bags should be 6-in x 6-in in dimensions with a thickness of 1 inch. The weight of these corn bags should be around 1lb and be filled with corn.

 

Players

Cornhole can be played between two players or four players. In the case of four players, two teams will be formed with two players in each team. While, in the case of two players, two teams will be formed with one player on each side.

 

Lawn or Court

The cornhole court in your lawn should be a rectangular area that is around 10 feet wide and a minimum of 45 feet long.

 

Game Play

Below are steps and rules to play the Cornhole game

  1. A coin flip will decide which team player will do the first throw.
  2. The player from the team that won the toss should now throw the first bag. The player should not cross the foul line which is the front edge of the board.
    The players should alternatively throw the bags now.
  3. Each player that lands the bag on the board will get 1 point whereas 3 points will be awarded for every bag that goes into the hole. 0 points will be given in case of the bag not landing on the board and a foul will be given if the player crosses the foul line while throwing the bag.

Once all 8 bags have been thrown you can calculate the score. The winning team will now get to throw the first round on the opposite board.
Any team winning 21 points first will be the winner.
The score for each round can be calculated by subtracting your points from the opposite teams points.
For example, if Team A gets 6 points whereas Team B gets 4 points then Team A would be awarded 2 points for the round.
